Audited Supplier Vee Packing Seal
V-packing, also called vee packing, chevron packing, and parachute packing, made with various Elastomers, and PTFE based materials, and is used in Pumps and Valves to seal the fluid or gas being moved.
Some of the standard materials in which Vee Packings are available are:

V-PACKING
The SPT V-Packings are precision moulded from a variety of fabric and rubber combinations for many service conditions. They are usually supplied in complete sets consisting of a male and female adaptor ring with a number of V-section pressure rings to make up the required depth. The lips of the pressure rings are designed with an interference fit to seal at low pressure and to respond automatically as pressure increases. Seal efficiency and life depend largely on the support given by the adaptors, particularly the female adaptor. For normal use, the female adaptors are usually made in the same material as the pressure rings. For heavy duty usage, or where there is an inadequate bearing surface, hard adaptors made with special grades of fabric are supplied. For very high pressures or conditions where severe shock loads are likely to be encountered, SPT seals both for glands and pistons, are supplied with polyacetal anti-extrusion rings built into the female adaptors. SPT V-Packings can be used with mineral oils, water soluble oils and water glycol fluids in the temperature range of -30 degrees Celsius to 110 degrees Celsius at pressures up to 5000lbf/inch squared.
V packing sets are multiple-lip seals, usually composed of a male and female adaptor and a group of three or five vee rings, are popular for sealing rods and pistons in medium to heavy duty applications and are compatible with both single and double acting cylinders.
Also known as chevron packing, this series of industrial seal set offers extra stability as it contains multiple V-ring seals. If one seal in a set fails, there will be another seal to serve as back-up.
Due to its excellent rigidity, extended service life, and superior sealing performance, this multi-lip seal has become a customer favorite. One the most popular uses is in the oil cylinder of a hydrostatic pressure tester.
