Hammer union seal/Weco seal

Hammer union seals are used in the connections between flexible hoses or pipes used in the oil drilling industry. The seal provides a critical fluid tight connection within the union hardware. Hammer unions consist of a thread end, a nut end, and a hammer nut that when tightened seal the assembly with the assistance of an elastomeric seal. The seal is lipped to prevent it from falling out when inverted. Some profiles such as Fig 2202, Fig 1004, Fig 1502, Fig 2002, Fig 602, Fig 1002 etc require a Hammer Union Lip Seal or an 'O'Ring depending on the Size of the Hammer Union. We produce 2",3", and 4" Hammer Union Seals in Nitrile for standard service and in FKM or HNBR for Sour Gas Service. In addition to the standard molded rubber seals, we offer these with either a brass or stainless steel anti-extrusion ring. Also available in PTFE,PU

Weco 1502 HNBR Hammer Union Seals for H2S Sour Gas Service

SPT produced a full line of Hammer Union Seals for use on flow lines. These Hammer union Seals are designed to seal on a Figure 1502 unions with typical pressure ratings for standard service of 15,000 PSI and are tested to 22,500 PSI. SIPAITUO  seals also produced a line of HNBR Hammer Union Seals for Sour Gas Service. The standard Hammer Union Seal is produced from an elastomer; however, SPT Seals produces a line of HUS seals with Brass backup rings as well as a line with stainless steel backups. So no matter what your application requires SPT Seals can produce the seal you need. For other material configurations or nonstandard sizes contact me. 

1.What is Harmmer Union seals ?

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union, thereby preventing the seal assembly from falling out of the threaded end when it is inverted.
 
Some profiles such as Fig 2202, Fig 1004, Fig 1502, Fig 2002, Fig 602, Fig 1002 etc require a Hammer Union Lip Seal or an 'O'Ring depending on the Size of the Hammer Union.
